Can anyone tell the names of the lost lives that went down with the Samtampa. One of them was my grandad (by the name of Strangeways).
Can anyone confirm this for me
Thanks.
Yes, I have a copy of the Evening Gazette dated Thursday 24th April 1947 with a list of the men lost when the Samtampa was wrecked. Your Grandfather, JOHN STRANGEWAYS,
(22)assistant steward of 42 Hunter Street,
Middlesbrough had been going to sea since he was 15. There is also a small photograph of him. I can copy the details and photo and send to you if you wish.
Contact me.
